The Fabric-Store linen is on the left, some linen from Joann's is on the right. The fabric-store linen is a looser, coarser weave with a lot of texture, but still soft. The Joann's linen has a much smoother finish--but is also nearly 3 times as much at 14.99 a yard. I only buy it if I have a coupon for at least 40% off. If I order again I think I'll try the linen that isn't softened, just to see the difference.
I'm working on a summer outfit from ISBN 4579109961, it will be for my shop. The little bonnet is my favorite thing, it just needs ribbon for ties and the lining sewn in, the bloomers need elastic and the top needs the binding finished. I might also add a touch of embroidery.
Next project is a dress for Miranda, mostly because she actually asked me to sew her a dress, picked out a pattern, a color and requested an embroidered cat on the bodice.
