The Kappa In Japanese Folklore

  • Kappas are legendary creatures that inhabit the rivers and waterways of Japan. They have beaked noses, shells on their back and a depression on their heads that holds water. Kappa are mischievous troublemakers. Their pranks range from the relatively innocent, such as loudly passing gas or looking up women's kimonos, to the more troublesome such as drowning swimmers and eating children. They feed on their victims by sucking their liver though their anus. They love cucumbers and if you write your name on a cucumber and throw it in the river, the kappa may be appeased by your gift and allow you to swim in peace.

Speedy Delivery--Yesasia

I received this order from Yesasia over a month ago and am finally getting around to writing it up. I was putting it off hoping I could get my scanner working--it's a scanner/printer combination and when I got my new computer the printer installed with no problems but it won't recognize the scanner for some reason. So I finally used the digital camera and they turned out pretty good. This order came in an amazing record time, considering I'd chosen the free super saver shipping--I ordered it on August 20th, it shipped out of Hong Kong on August 26th and arrived September 2nd. Unbelievable--it used to take about a month from order to arrival.

Girl's Everyday Dress has a variety of clothes in sizes 100-140cm as well as a few items for Grandma. As usual, the beautiful photographs are what lured me into buying this book.

One thing I don't care for with this book is that there are only patterns for one item of clothing shown in this photo. So you can make the little ruffled shrug, but not the pintucked dress.

Little Girl and Mama Natural Clothing is part of the Heartwarming Life Series, a Pochee Special. The clothing is divided into categories--European Sweet Style, Natural Style, Simple Style, Classical Style and Casual Style.
