Miranda is a fan of the show Oddities and wondered if there might be a similar place here in Cleveland. There doesn't seem to be, but we were already planning a day trip to Pittsburgh for her fourteenth birthday so I thought I'd check online and see if there was anything nearby--and there was. Trundle Manor.
Trundle Manor is a private residence of a couple of collectors with a penchant for the bizarre. For the really bizarre. Taxidermy, both collected and created by the owners Mr. Arm and his companion Velda Von Minx. We arranged for a tour--since it's their private home, they ask that you call or email first, the information is on the website. We arrived a little early and knew right away that we'd found the right place to bring Miranda.
Mummified cat, a gift from a neighbor
A Romantic Tale of True Love Between a Turtle and a Duckling
The Trundlemobile
Our hosts were funny, interesting and just really nice and welcoming. The tour takes you through the dining room, foyer and parlor but we still managed to spend an hour visiting. The girls all received a small glass bottle with a baby octopus tentacle. The tour is free, but they do accept donations. as well as running a small gift shop and an Etsy shop
Wow, that is really spectacular!
