I finally finished this little Kappa for Miranda, it's from ISBN 4415102859. He really is kind of wonky, I had a hard time with the pattern and just kind of winged it for his beak and head plate--the sort of green ruffle on the top of his head. Miranda's very happy with thim though. He is pictured here with my mug and a book from Aranzi Aronzo and some stationary from Qoutlet and Kawaii Gifts
As always, I think these little crocheted guys are going to work ups so quickly and two months later I am finally weaving in ends and sewing it together. I think it's just that I find crochet a little boring, and I have to watch what I am doing. With knitting I can watch television or something, crochet it seems harder.
Lately I've been feeling slightly envious of all the posts regarding peace and quiet in the house, with time to sew now that kids are back in school. There are some very good reasons we chose to homeschool and plenty of things about it that I love, but right now, oh some peace would be good...it isn't helping that the temperatures have soared the past week. We've been trying to find air conditioned places to hang out in, but we've been to numerous libraries, the grocery store, the museum and are running out of places that don't cost money. The girls had ham sandwiches for dinner tonight, and poor Brian is just going to have to forage for himself. The flannel pajamas I cut out on Sunday are languishing in my projects basket because I just can't bear to touch them, along with the two pairs of corduroy pants for Ivy
I'm trying to bravely sort through my Japanese pattern books and decide which ones I don't really use that much. I've got another wish list going on Yesasia and it's getting kind of out of control. I have a few set aside that I've made maybe one project out of each, but when I start leafing through them to see which pages I would scan should I choose to put them on Etsy, I start thinking oh that's so cute! and I might make that! and then they go right back on the bookshelf. I really am a bit hopeless.
