This has been the snowiest winter I remember in a while. And while snow days don't directly affect us homeschoolers, the girls have been enjoying their friends being home all day. We have another foster dog, a seven year old Labrador/Newfoundland mix named Sammy. He's been scratching and losing hair, so we've got him for a while until the vets can figure out what's wrong with him. He's been with us for two weeks, and unfortunately he's still scratching. But nearly every day he becomes more playful and affectionate--he's also a terrible, terrible food thief so we keep the kitchen gated off when we aren't in it. Chestnut's leg deformities don't allow him to support himself solely on his back legs, so it took us a while to get used to Sammy. Casualties include an entire bag of bagels, two pieces of take-out fried chicken, and quite a few of Ivy's lunches.
He and Chestnut have been enjoying the weather, even if the rest of us are a little tired of the snow.
He loves to eat snow. I make sure he has plenty of water, so I don't think he's thirsty. And he's introduced Chestnut to the practice, so they both just stand out there chewing on mouthfuls.
Everytime I'd hold up the camera, he'd start walking towards me.
This is a tiny room off the dining room, he's picked this as his downstairs rest spot. He's got another one up in my sewing room, under the desk.
He probably has food allergies. My vet put my dogs on Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance L.I.D. (Limited Ingredient Diet) Sweet Potato and Fish.
http://www.naturalbalanceinc.com/dogformulas/SPFish.html Once I started using it, any itching/scratching and skin/hair issues cleared up. I suggested it to a friend. She had the same results within a weeks time.
