Every year the Cleveland Zoo is open for Thanksgiving, with free admission and special animal feeding demonstrations. In past years I've thought about going, but didn't think we'd ever be able to be up and out of the house in time to squeeze it in before dinner with the family. This year Ivy was enthusiastic enough to motivate me. It was a beautiful day and rather crowded--more people than I thought had the day free.
Ivy's turkey hat drew much admiration
The main reason for our visit was the Fossa. This is Jack
They gave him a sort of puzzle toy filled with meat that he had to figure out how to move pieces a certain way to access the food. He also had a box covered with papier mache that he had to tear apart--he did that in about five seconds.
This is the original building when the zoo was built in the 1880's. It now houses a Ben and Jerry's ice cream shop
On top of the building is a weathervane with a white-tailed deer--the first animal ever on exhibit at the zoo
